DES MOINES, Iowa — As Iowans look to maintain our way of life under increased global competition, threats to ethanol production and antiquated infrastructure, we need to improve access to market for the bulk commodities we produce in-state. One way to do this is by making freight rail safer and more efficient. A proposed merger by Canadian Pacific Railway and Norfolk Southern can transform the nation’s rail system, allowing freight to travel from the Midwest to the east coast with far fewer delays and congestion.
