All individuals under the National Railroad Health and Welfare (GA-23000) Plan will have their Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) changed effective January 1, 2025. The Plans will switch from Express Scripts, Inc. to Optum Rx. All covered members, eligible spouses and dependents will be automatically enrolled. There is no need to take any action at this time.
National Railroad Agreements reached in 2022 allowed for rebidding of providers to ensure the highest quality product. It’s important to note, while administration of the benefit program will change, the change in managers does not change any collectively bargained drug copays or coverage.
Materials with more detailed information on how active prescriptions and prior authorizations will transfer to Optum Rx will be sent out in the coming months.
