INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, October 28 — Next week, ballots are being mailed to 24,000 members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) employed by Class I railroads who are eligible to vote on a tentative agreement (TA) for a proposed collective bargaining agreement reached with the railroads in September. Results of the ratification vote by BLET members will be announced on November 21.

BLET’s National President Dennis Pierce discussed details of the TA, including wage gains, bonuses, and quality of life issues, among other topics, as a guest on America’s Work Force Union Podcast where he was interviewed by program host Ed “Flash” Ferenc. An audio link can be found at: Railroad workers consider contract with largest pay raise in 50 years (labortools.com). The interview begins approximately 13 minutes after the start of the program and runs for roughly 25 minutes.

The BLET has also been distributing materials to members and holding Town Hall meetings across the nation to help members make an informed choice on whether to vote for or against the proposed collective bargaining agreement, answer questions, and to clear up any misunderstandings about what’s contained in the proposed collective bargaining agreement.
