U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) will address BLET members during a welcome reception at the union’s Eastern Regional Meeting in Washington, D.C., on Monday, July 29. If time permits, the Senator plans to engage in a question and answer session.
Senator Sanders has been a leading advocate for railroad workers in their ongoing struggle to secure paid sick leave. His February 2023 letter to Class I CEOs and his March 2023 press conference (video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L2lC0Ujk-E) helped open the door for this much-needed benefit.
