Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien has appointed Mike Smith to serve as the new Director of the Teamsters Rail Conference. Leaders of the BLET and BMWED were introduced to Brother Smith at a Rail Policy Committee meeting in Washington D.C. in May.
In 2015, Smith was elected the Principal Officer/President of IBT Local 810 IBT in Long Island City, New York, and in 2022 he began his work for the IBT as an International Representative on behalf of General President O’Brien. In 2024 Brother Mike was appointed as Director of the Teamsters Rail Conference.
BLET members will soon have the opportunity to hear directly from Brother Smith. He is scheduled to speak during the opening ceremonies of the BLET’s Western Regional Meeting in Kansas City on June 4, 2024.
