INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, March 17 — Brother Jorge R. Gomez, a BNSF locomotive engineer and member of Division 264 in El Paso, Texas, has joined the BLET National Division staff as a full-time Special Representative. BLET National President Eddie Hall said his appointment became effective March 13, 2023

Brother Gomez has been assigned to work under the direction of National Vice President Randy Fannon. In his new capacity, Brother Gomez will investigate organizing opportunities, conduct mobilization outreach in the Western U.S., and will assist with the BLET’s Short Line Department (Division 16). He will also handle various other duties as assigned by Brother Hall and Brother Fannon.

“I’m extremely excited to be part of the team at the National Division,” Brother Gomez said. “I look forward to working on behalf of my fellow BLET Brothers and Sisters.”

Brother Gomez brings over two decades of experience as a BLET officer — and 30 years of railroad seniority — to his new position. He hired out in June of 1993 with the AT&SF Railroad, and earned promotion to locomotive engineer in April of 1994. He has held continuous membership in the Brotherhood since he joined Division 264 in 1996. Over the past 23 years, Brother Gomez has served as Local Chairman of Division 264, and has also served as a Vice General Chairman and Trustee of the BNSF (former AT&SF) General Committee of Adjustment. Brother Gomez has represented Division 264 as Delegate to six National Division conventions (2001, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022).

“Congratulations, Brother Gomez,” President Hall said. “Welcome aboard.”
