KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Railway operator Kansas City Southern Industries Inc. said on Thursday that Ronald Russ will succeed Robert Berry, who is retiring, as senior vice president and chief executive officer on July 1, according to a wire service.

Russ joins Kansas City Southern June 3 from Wisconsin Central, where he was executive vice president and chief financial officer most recently, the railroad said.

Berry plans to retire July 31 after five years at Kansas City Southern, which controls five railroads in North America.
