CHICAGO — A Metra spokeswoman says the commuter rail agency hasn’t put any extra security measures in place after news that the New York City subway may be the target of a bombing.
Judy Pardonnet says Metra hasn’t gotten any specific threats to Chicago.
But she says Metra officials are in daily contact with the Department of Homeland Security. It also maintains surveillance for suspicious passenger behavior and unattended packages.
New York City officials stepped up mass transit security today after receiving a threat that the subway there may be the target of a bombing.
The city mobilized police officers to begin looking through commuters’ bags, brief cases, baby strollers and luggage.
