DAVENPORT, Iowa — An area man is in police custody after allegedly putting two fake bombs on railroad tracks in downtown Davenport this week.
Hunter Sims Jr., 54, address unavailable, is charged in Scott County District Court with felony counts of false reports.
In both incidents, Davenport police found devices attached to the railroad tracks that looked like bombs, but turned out not to be explosive devices.
According to police records, the first incident was reported at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Harrison Street. Sgt. Steve Raney said officers were there investigating until about 2 p.m.
The second incident was reported at 8:21 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of South Ripley Street. Raney said officers were at that scene until 9:26 a.m.
According to court records, the railroad had to be shut down to train traffic each time.
Sims was being held Thursday in the Scott County Jail with his bond set at $9,750 on each count.
