PHILADELPHIA — A SEPTA spokesman said today that the transit agency had no immediate plans to institute new security measures in response to the new round of transit bombings in London.
The system has been on a heightened state of alert ever since after the July 7 bombings in the British capital that killed more than 50 people and wounded 700, said spokesman Jim Whitaker.
That entails deploying transit police at points of maximum vulnerability, particularly the tunnels in Center City, and asking passengers to report unattended packages and usual behavior.
Those measures remain in effect.
